2016, A New Year, A New Farm, And New Horses to Follow!

It has been a while since our last post and I have a lot to fill everyone in on!

First off, I would like to once again thank everyone for their congratulations on our win at the Equine Comeback Challenge back in October with Indian Rain Dance.  For those of you who became great fans of that amazing horse he found the perfect home with Nicole Molinaro, of Gianni Equi-Media.  We get updates on him very often, and he is happy and excelling in his new home!

Due to the success and publicity from the Equine Comeback Challenge ReeLee has been able to expand to a new facility!  We are now at the 36 acre Valley Breeze Farm in Cochranville, PA.  We have 8 separate turnout fields, an indoor arena, private trails, an outdoor riding field, 16 stalls in our beautiful bank barn, and a security system to boot!  We have partnered with a great friend, Jessi Werner of Phoenix Equine Services.  Another graduate of Colorado State University's Equine Science program, Jessi adds the expertise of Dressage, Hunters, and 3-Day Eventing to the farm.  This means we can offer training to just about every discipline out there.  Additionally, we have been able to take on track lay ups, sale prospects, and we are now officially a partner farm to Turning For Home of Parx Racing.  Being a partner farm to Turning For Home means that we can help even more OTTBs, just like Indian Rain Dance.

The two OTTBs we have in now are Beer Goggles (aka Tipsy), and Mr. Discreet (aka Disco).  Mr. Discreet is a horse that I used to ride when I was an assistant trainer at Parx Racing.  He sustained a bowed tendon in September, and will need time to recover, but we are optimistic about his future.  Due to knowing this horse on a more personal level, there is a chance he may become my RRP horse for this coming year, but it will all depend on how his tendon recovers over the next few months.

Beer Goggles, now affectionately known as Tipsy, is a 2010 mare that we have had for about a month.  She retired sound and did not have any prior injuries on the track.  I have put a few rides on her this week and have been very impressed with her movement and personality.  She is available for adoption as a prospect as of now, but I will continue to work with her until she finds her new home.  There is always the possibility that she could be a second RRP horse for ReeLee, but it is our goal to find homes for as many OTTBs as we can.  It is the sound and off the bat great minded OTTBs, like Tipsy, that can move on quickly to new homes that allow us to fund the rehab of others that need medical attention, rehab, or more advanced training.

We also have a new resident OTTB, Chief.  Chief is a 17 hand 9 year old OTTB given to ReeLee by his lifelong owner Joe Imbasi.  Chief was only on the track for a few months as a two year old, and never quite showed the racing spirit.  Joe took Chief home to his farm where he was trail ridden a few times a year by the family, but Joe saw a lot more potential in Chief so he is allowing ReeLee to put him into our program and see what he is capable of.  We are very excited to have him as a part of our team.

As we roll into the new year, we welcome you to join us on our new and exciting ventures.  Weather you follow on this blog page, want to send a horse for training, start taking horsemanship/training or riding lessons, adopt one of our OTTBs, purchase a sale horse, or just pop in for a visit, we look forward to what this new year has to bring.  Below are some photos of our new OTTBs (Two of Beer Goggles and then two photos of Disco), new facility, some of our lay up and permanent residents, our big boy Chief in his new blanket, and of course our boy Rain in his new home.  Happy New Year!
