DNA TESTED: Welsh Pony x Galcieno x Paso Fino
$5,000 FIRM Price to Increase When Returned to Consistent Work
We have listed Rip a few times, but always find an excuse not to sell him because he has become a favorite here on the farm. But, because he is a trainer’s personal project he typically gets consistently worked for a few weeks at a time and then gets several months off at a time. Despite this he has come tremendously far, and he is always right where you left him after time off, We can only imagine how much he would thrive in a consistent program, and we want that for him.
We know Rip is worth more than we are asking. Especially if we had the time to be consistently working him. But vet bills on other horses, and a full barn of client horses has us dropping his price. So don't miss out on this awesome opportunity!
Rip is that kind of horse (pony) that a rider who wants to perform LOVES. He’s athletic, responsive, and feely in all the ways you want. He learns quickly, and even when you get busy, you can come back and he is not going to be a fire breathing dragon. He has three smooth gaits (his lope is to die for). He stays in the gait he is in unless asked for more. When moving out he doesnt require constant leg to keep going. He has a solid foundation, and can go in any direction or discipline. He’s started over fences, has competed in introductory endurance (which he LOVED), and is lightly started on the barrel pattern. He can pony or be ponied, at home or on the trail. Loves water, and to swim. He can be ridden in any style saddle, or bareback. He's confident with new things and on the trail, but he's not your bombproof kids horse. He will snort and give side eye to things on occasion. More so on the ground than under saddle. If he does per chance decide to spook, it usually just involves giving something a wider berth, and he doesn't hold a grudge. This pony wants to please and has so much try in him.
Rip can be ridden out 100% alone, or in a group. He did almost all of his training rides for his endurance race last summer by himself, and he did most of the race on his own as well. When ridden in large groups and everyone moves out he can be on the bit, because his little legs are trying to keep up. but he doesn’t do anything wrong.
Rip has had confident intermediate riders on him and done well, but we really feel he would do best with someone who knows their stuff and can bring out even more from him than we have. Whether that be as their personal horse or an eventual resale project.
Around the farm, Rip is the first one to walk up for attention in the field. And will get even the most docile of his pasture mates to play with him. He holds his own in a herd. Not on the top, not on the bottom. VERT active and playful when turned out. He currently lives out 24/7 but has beens stalled and handles it well.
Health wise Rip is an easy keeper, and barefoot. He has no previous injuries, and has always been sound. He is UTD on coggins, vaccines, farrier, and dentist.
Rip will require an application, Right of First Refusal/No Auction/Slaughter Contract, and references. We hate to see him go, but can’t wait to see him thrive with his heart human.
