Today, 86,000 free-roaming horses live on nearly 28 million acres of public lands across 10 western U.S. states, and 55,000 taken off the land now live in government-run quarters. With no natural predators, their numbers are growing by 15 to 20 percent each year, according to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
Head trainer Kelsey Parisi trained her first mustang at the age of 15, and worked with several others as she made her way through various programs and positions before starting ReeLee Restarting and Training. In 2019, she adopted RL Warm Springs American Outlaw a then 11 year old 16.2H mustang from the BLM Online Auction. He did not arrive in the best state, but she rehabbed him back to health, and he is now her competitive endurance horse. She is also TIP certified through the Mustang Heritage Foundation.
During the process of bringing Outlaw to Pennsylvania, Kelsey found that getting mustangs to the east coast was quite the process. She also discovered that not many people locally had the set up or knowledge to work with them. Knowing how many of these amazing horses needed homes, she decided to help bridge the gap from the west to the east and make mustang training a larger part of her program.
Training mustangs is a process unlike the training of other horses. It not only requires a special set up to keep them contained during initial gentling, but extra time and patience is required. Especially in the early stages of gentling. If owning a wild mustang is something you are interested in we have several options and services to aid you in the process.

Adopt/Purchase from ReeLeeSometimes we have available mustangs that we have adopted for the intention of resale. These horses are available to an eligible adopter from the day they arrive to ReeLee, with their reassignment/sale fee increasing as they advance in training. If you are interested in one of our ungentled mustangs, the horse will remain in our training program (at the new owner's expense) until it has at least meant minimum BLM TIP Requirements. You may opt to keep the horse with us though saddle training or longer. Training board is $1,500 per month and is all inclusive minus vet and farrier (once the animal is able to be trimmed safely).
All of our available mustangs have albums and progress updates on our Facebook page. |
Adopt and Send to ReeLee for TrainingYou may pick a horse out from a BLM Holding Facility, Storefront, Online Auction, TIP Trainer, or other means of sale or rescue, and send it to us for training. Or if you already have a mustang and realized you need a little extra help to get it started, we can help. We are a BLM approved facility, so when filling out your adoption application you list us as the location and put our mustang pen setup and dimensions on the application. We can pick up from some locations if they are within a days drive, otherwise we have a list of approved shippers that will pick up at various BLM locations across the country. Unless you have a BLM approved facility for the horse to go home to, the horse will need to stay with us until BLM TIP requirements are met.

Let ReeLee Walk You Through the ProcessIf we do not have a mustang available that fits your wants and needs, but you are not comfortable buying sight unseen or need help navigating storefronts and online auctions this option is for you. We can accompany you to an event, represent you at an event, or help you look through horses online. Then, you adopt the horse and send it to us for training. Again, the horse will have to meet BLM TIP requirements before leaving, but you are always welcome and encouraged to keep the horse with us through saddle training and riding.
Consultation online or at in person events will require a deposit that will go toward training board once we find your mustang. |
